PICNIC Mexico @ Foro Latinoamericano de Inversión de Impacto 2014

PICNIC Mexico hosted a series of events as part of the Foro Latinoamericano de Inversión de Impacto (FLII), one of Latin America’s largest events focused on impact investing. The Forum took place from February 18 – 20, 2014 in Merida, Mexico.

FLII, known in English as the Latin American Forum on Impact Investing, promotes business and develops the impact investing and social innovation sector in this region, encouraging collaboration between social entrepreneurs, investors and funders. The Forum attracts investors, entrepreneurs, accelerators, foundations, corporations and additional stakeholders.

FLII 2014 focused on three themes: collaboration, innovation and priority sectors which include Agriculture, Education, Housing and Financial Services.

The PICNIC Mexico program during FLII kickstarted discussion and activities around our “Re-define Growth!” call to action in the context of Mexico and Latin America, in the lead up to the PICNIC Mexico Salon which will take place in October 2014.

The PICNIC Mexico activities at FLII included:

  • an interactive discussion with Paul Miller of Bethnel Green Ventures (BGV) on how to re-define growth in Mexico and Latin America, led by the PICNIC Mexico team. BGV is a social innovation incubator based in London at NESTA;
  • a talk by Paul Miller of Bethnel Green Ventures, on the art of identifying and nurturing promising early stage social enterprises through effective accelerator programs; and
  • presentation of the findings of “Good Incubation”, a soon-to-be-released NESTA-commissioned research report which maps the global social innovation ecoystem and summarizes accelerator program offerings based on criteria such as industry, domain, investment s and growth strategies.
